Formaldehyde

Formaldehyde (CH20) is a colourless, corrosive, pungent gas that can cause adverse health effects.

What is Formaldehyde?

Formaldehyde is a flammable, colourless, corrosive gas with a strong, pungent odour and is used in building and insulation materials, paper product coatings, along with nail hardening, cosmetic and household products. Formaldehyde in all its forms is highly toxic. It is often used as a disinfectant and fumigant in hospitals, ships, dwellings and animal handling facilities, to kill bacteria, viruses and fungi.

Formaldehyde monitoring

It is vital to have accurate, reliable and fast detection solutions for Formaldehyde to avoid the gas reaching dangerous, toxic levels. Occupational exposure is mainly via the inhalation of vapours and can cause headaches, difficulty breathing and burning in the throat.

ATi’s range of industry-leading Gas Detection solutions are designed to measure a wide variety of toxic and combustible gases in hazardous locations. Each of our fixed or portable detectors can be packaged as stand-alone units or multipoint systems. Utilising ATi’s unique smart sensor technology, our gas detectors can go from Formaldehyde monitoring to Oxygen measurement in less than a minute, sounding an alarm if they reach dangerous levels.
