What is Peracetic Acid?
Peracetic Acid is widely used for its sanitising and disinfection abilities. Used within the medical and food industries for the disinfection of piping systems and processing equipment, Peracetic Acid is also used for spray washing of food products and for disinfection of cooling water systems. It is considered environmentally friendly and is characterised by a very rapid action against all microorganisms. However, it also is highly corrosive, flammable and can severely irritate eyes, skin and the respiratory system.
Peracetic Acid monitoring
Monitoring background levels of PAA in the workplace is not easy, but ATi are one of only two gas sensor manufacturers in the world that can make accurate, specialist sensors that can be used to protect staff. PAA is released into the air during sterile processing, but as a high strength oxidant it is dangerous to all living cells, potentially causing permanent damage to skin, eyes and organs. Continuous, accurate and reliable monitoring is essential as part of your Quality Controls Program.
ATi’s range of industry-leading toxic Gas Detection solutions are designed to measure and alarm where levels exceed exposure guidelines. Utilising ATi’s unique smart sensor technology, our gas detectors can go from Peracetic Acid monitoring to Oxygen measurement in less than a minute, sounding an alarm if they reach dangerous levels. Each of our fixed or portable detectors can be packaged as stand-alone units or multipoint systems.
