What is Hydrogen Chloride?
Hydrogen Chloride is a corrosive gas that dissolves readily in water and on exposure to air, it forms dense white vapors. It is heavier than air, has a strong pungent odor and has many uses, including cleaning, pickling, electroplating metals, tanning leather, refining and producing a wide variety of products.
Hydrogen Chloride monitoring
Continuous monitoring of Hydrogen Chloride levels is vital. Breathing in low levels of hydrogen chloride for a short period of time can cause irritation to the nose and throat, causing coughing and shortness of breath. Exposure to higher concentrations can cause headache, fever, a rapid heart rate and confusion. In serious cases the airways may be damaged and a condition called pulmonary edema where fluid builds up in the lungs, may develop.
ATi’s range of industry-leading Gas Detection solutions are designed to measure a wide variety of toxic and combustible gases in hazardous locations. Each of our fixed or portable detectors can be designed as stand-alone units or multipoint systems.
